Please find below more detailed information on specific parts of the programme planned for the FOREST EUROPE Ministerial Conference Oslo 2011. This information will be updated as planning proceeds.

Panel debate
A panel debate to stimulate discussions among ministers and high-level representatives of governments and civil society on the role of European forests in a global perspective will be held in the morning on Tuesday 14 June. The panel debate should serve as an introduction to the main topics of the Ministerial Conference: How forests can contribute to a green economy, climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation, provision of renewable products and energy, and the need  to combat illegal logging.

The panel debate will be moderated by Ms. Frances Seymour, Director General of the Center for International Forestry Research, CIFOR. Invited panelists will reflect on the topics of the Ministerial Conference.

FOREST EUROPE observer organisations representing civil society are invited to contribute to the debate by providing group statements on the issues for the Conference, focusing in particular on the role of European forests in a global perspective. The FOREST EUROPE observer organisations will be contacted by the Liaison Unit Oslo for further preparations of the panel. 

Ministerial Roundtables
Statements by ministers and high-level representatives of FOREST EUROPE signatories, followed by high-level representatives of intergovernmental organisations, will be heard during two Ministerial Roundtables. The first Roundtable will be held in the afternoon on Tuesday 14 June and the second in the morning on Wednesday 15 June. The high- level speakers are invited to reflect on the documents for the Ministerial Conference and on the main Conference issues: Contribution of forests to a green economy and climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, provision of renewable products and energy and the need to combat illegal logging.

Statements by observer countries
Ministers and high-level representatives of FOREST EUROPE observer countries are invited to give statements in the afternoon on Wednesday 15 June.
